Bob's Got Us Again! Another Controversy Dismissed Out-Of-Hand Due to Public's "Lack of Understanding" ...

An interesting new trend is developing in the era of Bob Correia.

Those who disagree with him, on virtually any issue, are simply uniformed.

Or misinformed. Or perhaps the victims of "public hype" ...

Or simply aren't smart enough to cower to his ultimate authority.

The latest issue: Dumping toxic waste in the city's landfill.

Sewage waste like sludge and fly ash have been banned from the Fall River landfill since 2004.

Now the city's mayor Robert Correia wants to change that.

He says dumping the sludge in Fall River rather than shipping it over 100 miles to a landfill in New Hampshire will save the city $750,000 a year.

City Councilor Raymond Hague disagrees.

He says the waste is toxic and that it is too close to a major water supply.

But the mayor says the money has to come from somewhere, and if his proposal fails there will most likely be an increase in water and sewer rates.

I encourage you to watch the video. Once again, Correia accuses the public of ignorance of the issue. Were we all ignorant several years ago during the vigorous debate of this issue?

It's the same thing with the firefighter's issue, the re-naming of the schools, the budget process, the cutting of vital public service positions -- any number of things really. Those who don't fall in line are simply stupid. Correia is NOT to be questioned.

The only ignorant person in connection to this story would be Linda Pereira. Four years ago she came to the council waving video tapes showing the potential leaking of materials in the the North Wattuppa ... just an eighth of a mile away. Her silence on this issue has been deafening.

There are many factors here.

1. The landfill has leaked and will continue to leak. All landfills have that problem.

2. Bob Correia and his cohorts are lying when they say there is no problem. The landfill test wells, especially the one north and north east of phase 2 have shown spikes of highly toxic chemicals.

3. The board of health said no problem. How would they know, a councilor a few years ago proved that they did not read the quarterly reports.

We are in for a tough 1 and 1/2 years.

It's amazing that this is what his mayoral career has become. A caricature of an iron fisted tyrant who denounces those who question him as dumb, or misinformed.
I think that the TRULY misinformed were those people that decided that he would have made a better mayor than any of the other candidates that ran during the last mayoral election.
At this point, I would've voted for Ken Medeiros as a better mayoral choice than Deputy Dawg.
I mean, who could look forward to having a mayor who has no bowel control and wet his pants during a few of his coffee hours? Or how about the fact that his wife looks just like him? (C'mon, if sleeping with a woman who looks exactly like he does, doesn't say something for his narcissistic ego, then what will?)
My favorite was during his mayoral debates, when he wouldn't address Representative David Sullivan as Representative Sullivan, as Mr. Sullivan, or even Candidate Sullivan. It was always 'Dave'.
I would even be so bold as to say that a man with this tiny of an ego, on such a huge power trip might go so far as to manipulate the local newspapers and radio stations. But that's just too crazy to be true, isn't it?
I liked how he was on WSAR the other morning, and that girl who's on now asked him what he was going to do to help citizens beat the sweltering heat.
His response was cocky and arrogant, 'We're going to help them out', hi tone implying that the poor girl asking was an idiot and the answer was a natural given.
The older guy, (Heck?) jumped and threw the dumbass a bone and mentioned the cooling centers for senior citizens being opened like last year, which Mayor Droopy parroted.
Yessir, I may be new to these here parts, but I can tell, it's mighty interesting living in the South Coast!
You can bet that I've subscribed to the South Coast Observer!
